Kenny, Azalea Trail, and Home Cooking

Late Friday night (phone calls at 11:00 pm are usually not good) I learned that my good friend (pictured above, he was one of my groomsmen) Kenny had gone on to be with the Lord.  He'd been pretty sick but it still was a bit of a shock, there is a sense of finality to it.  I have no doubt he is with God right now, in fact I had a picture of him singing to Jesus as we sang songs in church today.  Kenny was one of the first people to know about Ginger and I and always had a special place in his heart for her.  He was always encouraging to me and was my room mate for a time.  The grief comes in waves for Ginger and I, I tend to space out for a bit as I remember my favorite Kenny moments.

For some he seemed gruff, but he had a heart of gold and such a kind and generous heart, if you knew him, and I mean really knew him.  He always had a smile for Ginger and I.  When we lived in the trailer, now those were the days.  There were talks and he helped me alot with codependency, helping me to stand on my own and make my own decisions and be all right with them.  I miss him but know that God has taken a special person home to heaven.

So as I took a walk alone on the Azalea trail today and took some pics I thought of Kenny and felt he was there with me, smiling as I took some pics.  Here are some of the best.

As you can see I'm not really going for traditional shots.  I like gates and the last with the stone stairs was just cool.  The last pic I have is of our dinner tonight, homeade chicken pot pie:

Kenny liked to cook too, so even though he can't eat this meal with Ginger and I, I know he is looking down on us.  Have fun in heaven Kenny, one day Ginger and I will see you again.
