Week 16: Painting Cabinets and Toe Nails

Welcome to the blog everyone!  So how is everyone holding up?  I know the extroverts are about to go crazy (if you haven't already) and I know some introverts who are ready to sit somewhere besides their house.  Me, I am still working so I am out in the wild (as I call it) each day except Sunday.  Sunday, at least for the time being, is my stay at home, watch church, do some things around the house, take a nap, cook my lunches for the week, and write my blog.  And with the rainy weather not turning severe at least where I am at, I get to listen to the distant sound of thunder through the day and rain hitting the windows.  The pie from Easter is gone from last week.  But here is a picture of the first piece (Such a work of art!):

Ginger's work of art

I have had my Saturday's off for a while except for this Saturday I was able to pick up a job painting cabinets, trim, and doors that were painted flat white to semi gloss white.  Semi Gloss is easier to clean.  So I was up early yesterday and since the job was just 3 minutes away I was able to get to work pretty quickly.  Actually the prep itself took about 4 hours alone to do.

Let's just say everything is shinier now with two coats put on.  It may not look like much but that shine makes it much easier to clean.   The person before had used latex flat paint to go over everything so it was either paint everything with oil based primer and spray oil based on everything or get a good quality latex semi gloss, which is what I chose to do.  It saves money and the mess is much less.  As it is all I have to do is go back and touch up some spots.  FYI, flat paint will get dirty and is very, very hard to clean.  With semi gloss you can wipe things down.  And my sweet doll of a wife brought me Braum's Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream at lunch!  When she hears where I am going to be at she surprises me like that which always brightens my day!  A friend of mine is doing the tub which has turned into a much bigger job than he thought, but he is up for the task.  Looks like he will be busy Monday!  But it did allow me to get most of the painting done yesterday.  Long day, but worth it.

Sophie has taken to sleeping on my chest as of late:

Daddy resting after a long day of work next to Ginger, watching TV on his tablet so Ginger can watch what she wants on TV.  So I had to take a little break.  You know what love is?  Painting your wife's toenails a copper glittery color because she can't get a pedicure!  Hey, I am an artist, from cabinets to toenails!

Well Ginger is excited to hear that things may start relaxing on the quarantine front.  Slowly at first but anything to where she can get some social interaction.  She has been really good, not going to places to just socialize, but I can just imagine that when things lift she is going to want to get out lol!  Me I keep telling people I am going to take a day or two off after this just so I can rest!  Seriously though, I am blessed that I am able to work and I did get good news this week that at least for this week no pay cuts.  So work is coming in.  My boss has been beating the bushes, he is tired, we are all tired, but the persistence is paying off.  Continue to keep us in your prayers as we keep you in ours!  Lots of love and stay safe!
